Traditional Deep Tissue

Mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, deep tissue massage involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. From strains to sports injuries, deep tissue massage helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury or intense exercise and reduce tension in muscles and tissues. Helps to promote increased blood flow and reduce inflammation. *45 minute session is used on an area or two that needs focused work; 90 minute session is full-body.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage helps to promote relaxation, eases tensity in muscles and soothes damaged soft tissues throughout the body. During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of the body. 

Contraindications for hot stone include:

  • Diabetes

  • Hypertension 

  • Neuropathy

 

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

MLD is a specialized massage type that gently assists the lymphatic system in maintaining the body’s fluid balance, blood circulation, and immune support. Very light pressure is used in this massage as it helps to reduce inflammation in the body and is effective both as a preventative treatment and as a postoperative rehabilitation treatment.

Deep breathing techniques call diaphragmatic breathing are usually done at the beginning and end of a therapy session to help open the deep lymphatic pathways. This is not only relaxing, but also helps increase movement of fluid toward the heart. 

Indications for MLD include:

  • Primary or secondary lymphedema 

  • Lipedema

  • Phlebo-lymphostatic edema

  • Postoperative edema

  • Posttraumatic edema

  • Chronic venous insufficiency

  • Palliative care: Provision of comfort and pain relief when other physical therapies are no longer appropriate 

  • Anxiety 

Contraindications for MLD include:

  • Decompensated cardiac insufficiency

  • Untreated Congestive heart failure (CHF - cardiac edema)

  • Acute inflammation caused by pathogenic germs (bacteria, fungi, viruses). 

  • Acute renal failure

  • Acute deep venous thrombosis (DVT)

 

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki is applied through the hands in a touchless, energetic way. This can be done in either area specific or full-body. Reiki helps to restore balance to an individual's energy centers (known as Qi or Chakras) as well as replenish them with renewed energy and helps to overall promote a sense of peace and can be experienced by people of all ages, whether in good health or stricken by illness as it is a contactless energy-work. 

 

Reiki Massage

This type of session is hands on and full-body. Reiki massage is used as a channel for energy to provide a safe and holistic healing method. It promotes good health and well-being.
